Bringing the Rain, Man

Quotes from the Gloom:

  • “Is he called Rain Man because it’s raining?” – Blades
  • “Yes, I think that’s it. He brings the rain.” – Dunkin

Yes, it was sprinkling most of the time, but not too much rain. Even so, we were able to find quite a few covered alcoves, walkways, and porticos. Cutty really does have it all. But on to…

The Thang

  • Mosey over to a covered area near the front of the middle school. We tried to stay out of the way of the left over middle schoolers who were huddled under there like there was a hurricane going on.
  • Warmup
    • Side Straddle Hop x15 IC
    • Merkins x15 IC
    • Prime the Pump (Fairly rapid calf raises while steadying self against a wall or piece of playground equipment.) x30 IC
    • Now that the calf muscles are warmed up, we did a standing upper body warm up…
    • Arm Circles-forward x15 IC
    • Arm Circles-backward x15 IC
    • Seal Claps x15 IC
    • Overhead Seal Claps x15 IC
    • Air Presses x15 IC
    • (Arms up the whole time, if possible.)
  • Ab Web(b?)
    • Big Boys x1 / American Hammers x4 IC
    • Big Boys x2 / American Hammers x8 IC
    • …we worked our way up to Big Boys x5 / American Hammers x20 IC
  • Mosey over to covered walkway by the school buses.
    • Squats x10 at each pillar
    • Frog Jump/Broad Jump from pillar to pillar
    • There were nine or ten pillars.
  • Mosey over to stairs for Sevens.
    • Burpees at the bottom of the stairs.
    • Run up the stairs and do Donkey Kicks against the wall.
    • Run down the pathway and back around to the bottom of the stairs for Burpees, etc.
    • 1 Burpee / 6 Donkey Kicks
    • 2 Burpees / 5 Donkey Kicks
    • Etc.
  • Mosey over to wall next to Transporter’s/Rudy’s Shed.
    • People’s Chair against the wall while waiting for the Six.
    • Once everyone arrived, we stayed in People’s Chair and did Air Presses x50 IC (so, 100 total).
  • Time was getting short, so we started a Mosey back towards CoT. Before we got too far, Sprinkles (Dunkin’s 4-year-old 2.0), suggested we do “Merkin Twists” at every light post on the way back.
    • I had never done a Merkin Twist before, but apparently it is a Merkin, then once back at the top in Plank position, you lift your right arm to the sky (twisting your torso), then back down for another Merkin, then once back at the top in Plank position, you lift your left arm to the sky (twisting your torso again). Genius. She is definitely Q’ing next time.
  • Once back to CoT, we had just enough time for half of a Jack Webb.
    • Merkin x1 / Air Press x4
    • I think we got up to Merkin x5 / Air Press x20

Moleskine (i.e., Spreadsheets from the Gloom)

I’m actually glad that I was asked to Q this evening, because otherwise there was very little likelihood that I was going to Clyent Dinner. Always fun to bring a few of the 2.0’s out, though, and they had fun, too. Thanks to Rain Man and Xerox for coming out and pushing it so it wasn’t just a Dunkin family walk across campus.  =)
