How to take care of a Baby (rock, that is)

I was at Dromedary on June 8th when Das Boot asked me to Q at the Body Shop the following day. Initially, I said I wouldn’t be able to do it, but upon further consideration, how could I turn down an offer from the 2021 Passport Challenge Phenom that is Mr. Boot?

Not much time to prepare, let’s see what I can come up with…

Warmup:

Mosey to entrance to school parking lot

SSH x10

Morrocan Nightclub x10

Runner’s pose (L then R)

Low Slow Squat x10

The Thang, Pt. 1

I had set aside about 10 equally sized rocks before the workout.

Grab a rock and run with it towards the fire station, stopping at each light to do 5 merkins.

I decided that I didn’t want to run much day, so we only ran about 2/3 of the way to the fire station.

Turn around and do 5 Low Slow Squats at each light on way back.

Stop at the Rea View Elementary School sign for the 6.

The Thang Pt. 2

“Consecutive Exercise” Starfish with your baby rock

Corner One: Exercise 1: Mike Tysons with rock / Exercise 2: Squats with rock / Exercise 3: LBC (with rock on ground)

Corner Two: Exercise 1: Bent over rows with rock / Exercise 2: Overhead Press with rock / Exercise 3: Calf raises with rock

Corner Three: Exercise 1: “V-Up” with rock / Exercise 2: SSH (rock on ground) / Exercise 3: Tricep extension with rock

Corner Four: Exercise 1: Curls with rock / Exercise 2: Dry Docks (No rock) / Exercise 3: Bench Press on back with rock

Center Exercise: 4 Burpees

This “Consecutive Exercise” Burpee works as follows: Complete all four of Exercise 1 (of course you do the Center Exercise like a regular Starfish). Then complete all four of Exercise 2, etc.

We did 8 reps in the corner and 4 burpees in the center.

Intermission:

Rifle carry with rock to flat field next to parking lot stopping for curls, tricep work, and squats with said rock.

The Thang Pt. 2 :

Same as The Thang Pt. 1 except 1 burpee in the middle and 5 reps at each corner.

Mosey back to rock pit to put our “babies” away then mosey to COT.

Moleskin:

For me, the funniest part of the workout was when we came back down the hill and I announced that we were going to do a Starfish because we “had’t done a Starfish, yet”. The look of befuddlement on @j-wow’s face was priceless. I wish I had a video of that.
