WHAT IS F3?

F3 — Fitness, Fellowship, Faith — traces its roots to a free, participant-led boot camp held on Saturday mornings in Charlotte, NC. What started as a handful of guys has grown into a nationwide movement of men committed to getting better together.

F3 Waxhaw is one of the strongest regions in the nation. We have 15+ active AOs (workout locations), 500+ PAX (participants), and workouts 6 days a week — all completely free.

The workouts are intense but scalable. The community is the reason men stay.

The Basics

Free — Always. No memberships, no fees.

Outdoor — Rain, cold, heat. We post in the Gloom.

Peer-led — No coaches. Any PAX can Q (lead).

Open to all men — Any age, any fitness level. Seriously.

Common Questions
What should I wear / bring to my first workout?
Athletic clothes and shoes you can move in. For cold mornings, layer up — you'll warm up fast. Bring water. That's it. No special gear required.
What's an "AO"? What's a "PAX"? What's a "Q"?
AO = Area of Operations (the workout location). PAX = Participants (the men who show up). Q = the workout leader that day. FNG = Friendly New Guy (that's you on day one). You'll pick up the rest as you go.
I'm not in great shape. Will I be left behind?
Never. "Leave no man behind" is a core value, not a slogan. Workouts are modified in real time to include every fitness level. Men of all shapes and ages post every day.
Is F3 a religious organization?
No. F3 is not affiliated with any church or religion. The Third F (Faith) reflects a shared belief that we are not the center of the universe and that living for something bigger matters — how you define that is your business.
How do I find out about my first workout?
Check the Workout Schedule page to find the nearest AO and time. Just show up 5 minutes early, introduce yourself as an FNG, and someone will take care of you.

The Process

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

DONATE YOUR BIKE

Drop off your used bicycle — any condition — at Christ's Closet in Waxhaw. Bikes of all sizes are welcome, from toddler to adult. Financial donations via Amazon Wishlist also accepted.

PAX REHABILITATE

F3 Waxhaw men volunteer to repair, clean, and refurbish donated bikes. Tires, chains, brakes — everything gets checked. PAX show up the same way they show up at 0530: no excuses, all in.

KIDS RIDE FREE

Christ's Closet distributes fully refurbished bikes to children and families in need — completely free. Every bike is a kid who gets to feel the wind on their face for the first time.

WHO IS CHRIST'S CLOSET OF NORTH CAROLINA?

Christ's Closet is a Waxhaw-based nonprofit that provides free clothing, shoes, household items, and essentials to families in need throughout Union County. They operate out of a red metal building at the corner of New Town and Byrum Rd — open to anyone, no income verification required, no questions asked.

The organization relies entirely on donated goods and volunteers. Every week, families from across the Waxhaw and Monroe area come through their doors to find what they need. Christ's Closet's model is simple: community gives, community receives.

HOW F3 FITS IN

F3 Waxhaw PAX show up — exactly like they show up at 0530 — to collect, strip, repair, and rebuild donated bicycles. We use Christ's Closet as our distribution partner because they already have the community trust, the relationships with families in need, and the infrastructure to get bikes to kids who will ride them.

When a family comes to Christ's Closet, they may leave with more than clothes — they may leave with a bike their kid will remember for the rest of their life. That's the mission. Simple, direct, and zero bureaucracy.

F3 Waxhaw PAX identify Christ's Closet as a community partner. First informal bike drop-off event organized.
2019–2020
Program formalizes. PAX begin organizing quarterly rehab days — collecting bikes, fixing them in parking lots, delivering to Christ's Closet for distribution.
2021
Amazon Wishlist launched. Community begins donating parts and helmets directly, shipped to Christ's Closet. Helmet-with-every-bike policy established.
2022–2023
200+ cumulative bikes donated milestone. Program expands — PAX begin offering home pickup for bike donors who can't transport.
2024–Present
300+ bikes placed. Financial donations via Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle added to support parts purchasing. Program now a signature F3 Waxhaw community initiative.
