Cliff notes: Four for another elevation training/recce of South Mountains Half. Same technical trails as usual, with the added challenge of a carpet of leaves, and yet, no falls, no dramatic rolling ankles. That first climb was traumatic for some, but once you get to the top… bliss.
What else? We did a good deed: upon arrival, we spied a car with the driver’s door open. We thought the owner was around and didn’t give it much thought. But a couple of hours later, when we returned, that door remained open. So we did what honest people do, and engaged the rangers.
We regaled ourselves with biscuits and great conversation on the way back. But we left room for chilli.
And now we feast…
