What had happened was: We launched with great anticipation of our run for the border, i.e. run from Millbridge to Taco Bell and return (inspired by Paper Clip sneaking out of the house at midnight to do the same). Anticipation change to tribulation when things went awry getting “lost” in Prescott. Fortunately Schnitzel knew the way (still can’t figure out how he knew about the cut thru) and we crossed over a muddy path to get from Prescott to the back of Lowes Food. Once we reached the paved road behind Lowes Food, we picked up the pace as Drive By was clamoring about the time and distance needed to return. We ran behind the car wash, past Wendys, and made a mad dash across the bridge on Providence Rd to reach Caribou Coffee. With the glow of purple lights ahead, we ran on the grass in front of Goodyear, finally reaching our destination (Taco Bell). We stopped to take a family photo as Drive By exclaimed earlier that he had “3 phones” in his possession, only to find out he had watches. At that point we had a choice, return from where we came or press forward to Lycan and get back another way. Throwing caution to the wind, Dunkin demanded we press forward. On we went, to look for the Lycan PAX but they were no where to be found. With time and distance not on our side, we ran, thru Cureton to find the “Tuck-like” trail to get us from Cureton to Quellin. With reckless abandon, we ran thru mud and 4 creek crossings to find our way to the other side of 12 mile creek and paved roads. We quickly ran to the Waxhaw Town Hall, and cut thru the bus parking lot of Kensington. From there we snuck thru the fence to cross into Nesbitt Park and finally reached our destination after 7 miles. All enjoyed the adventure except for Flip Phone who complained about his muddy shoes. I have had this route in my head for a long time and it finally came to fruition. It was a glorious, fun way to spend a Monday morning with friends.
