What had happened was: It’s time to celebrate the greatest annual sporting event, dare we say the greatest sporting event in France this year? Yes, Le Tour de France kicked off a little over a week ago and Bushwood spent the morning celebrating another great sport courtesy of the Europeans.

The weinke included:
– 21 goofballs (21 stages of the Tour, and the goofball imitates the formidable style of the great Chris Froome)
– 35 Moroccan Night Clubs, UK Style, in honor of Mark Cavendish, the Manx Missile, winning his 35th stage of the Tour last week, passing the GOAT Eddy Merckx
– 4 sprints followed by 5 Mike Tysons, in honor of the 4 men who have won the Yellow Jersey 5 times. (YHC does not know if Mike Tyson can ride a bike, but he would not mock him if he cannot.)
– Merkins and Freddy Mercurys totaling 176 each to recognize the 176 riders who start the Tour.
– Head to the hilly area nearby for the mountain stage where we combined hill repeats with Didi jumps in honor of Didi the Devil who has cheered on the riders for decades.

MOLESKINE: The PAX were not completely up to speed on their Tour trivia so YHC tried to remedy that, though there was some claim that names like Cavendish, Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Andre Greipel were fabricated.

The PAX were strong in rough conditions this morning. Twinkle toes earned his Green Jersey by winning the sprint stage and then, like a true sprinter, he took it easy on the mountain stage, gassed and trying to make the cut-off time. Tanyatine-Tim Braun showed his skills on the mountain stage and made his claim on the Polka Dot Jersey. Posse and Deep Dish stayed true to their names and proved themselves strong domestiques, which are the backbone of a power team, by never stopping and pushing the PAX forward. And One Star, having just returned and worn out from his Giro d’Italia, reveled in the tales from his Grand Tour, getting one Marvin stage in before he heads up north for a season — he gets a badge for riding le Tour, but he’s no Sylvain Chavanel or George Hincapie, who started and completed Tour after Tour.

The weather was rough on our stage of Le Tour, but the PAX powered through the humidity and while there were no beautiful women, lion teddy bears or champagne to greet them, they earned a good nap.
