Message at COT:
Ever seen someone struggling with something and thought to yourself “c’mon that’s not all that bad, all you have to do is…”??
Whether a man is drowning in 150 ft of open ocean, a 10 ft pool or in 2 ft of bathwater, the death certificates are all going to list cause of death as drowning. No one reads an obituary and asks “how deep was the water?”
Equally, don’t pass judgement or minimize someone’s struggles prior to tragedy. It’s easy to tell someone all they have to do is stand up in the tub. It’s hard to swim 3 miles ashore through rough seas. It’s even harder to know which situation someone is in mentally. Give grace that not everyone will think or act like you would.
