Moleskine
Next Saturday will be my 9th F3 anniversary, but needed to move this Q up a week for f3southcharlotte.com/2024/06/14/brolympics-return-for-2024/. Truly grateful to have 2 of my former co-Site Q’s & Shield Locker in attendance.
I feel so sorry for that version of me in the multiverse who never said yes to F3. He is a level of broken that…well, just defies description. I’m broken, too; but more in a medium.com/@motoki/kintsugi-as-a-metaphor-for-life-9f79d3b24ad3. Thanks to everyone in this group who make it OK to show both the scars & the open wounds. That’s how we heal as individuals and as a country.

Pleasantly surprised to see Manzel/Manzeil/Manziel/Flouride from Dirty Myrtle! He’s been here before & ran the Thread Trail, chasing after Fester (who left 30 minutes earlier). Catfish & I had a great convo with him at Dunkin coffeteria (TPNTP).
Take Out:
Lou Gehrig is now known for the disease more than his baseball records. But here’s a short list of his accomplishments:
– Batted 0.500 in 1924
– His 1st 2 seasons, he was playing backup behind a superstar at that time. But when that guy took himself out of the lineup for one game with a headache, Gehrig took the starting lineup & NEVER gave it back! Once he got his opportunity, that’s when his record of 2,130 consecutive games began.
– 1932 – first player to hit 4 home runs in a game
– First athlete on a Wheaties box
– X-rays taken later in his life showed that he had been playing with multiple fractures
– First baseball player to ever have his number retired
– Only player with 3 consecutive seasons of 500+ RBI’s
– 185 RBI’s in 1931 is STILL the American League record
– Still holds the record with 400+ bases in 5 seasons
Now that your focus is on what the man did instead of what happened to him, the real point is how he was remembered at his funeral.
His funeral lasted just 8 minutes. The WHOLE service. The priest looked out over the crowd & thought a flowery eulogy was not necessary. He said, “We need no eulogy, because you all knew him. No tribute was needed because his life & his example spoke for itself.”
What would your funeral feel like without a eulogy? Are you holding back some things that only a few people see? Does your character need to be explained? Do you live your life in such a way that your example could speak for itself?
