THE THREE SACRED ORDERS:
🏆 Great Loop: “We don’t get dropped. We strategically create distance.”
🔥 Pre-Ride & Fire Pit Society: “Ride less. Analyze more. Hydrate with whatever’s in the cooler.”
🚲 The Regulars: “It’s not fear if you call it risk management.”
THE FIRE PIT TRIBUNAL
With bikes loaded and egos bruised, Carbload ordered pizza, Buffet unpacked his parts barn, Cable Guy diagnosed a creak as a spiritual issue, and Tron illuminated his own lost water bottle.
Suddenly, a ghost emerged from the woods, effortlessly clearing every feature that had humbled the crew.
“You boys call that a clean run?”
He surveyed the flat tires, bent confidence, and bikes lying on the ground.
“Twenty years I’ve ridden these trails. I’ve never seen so many people mistake surviving the Great Loop for mountain biking.”
“Same time next week?” he asked.
“Can’t,” said Mustard. “Daylight Savings.”
The ghost shook his head.
“Pathetic.”
Then he vanished, leaving behind perfect tire tracks and a Strava segment nobody would ever beat.
THE LEGEND LIVES ON
The Great Loop claimed victory. The Fire Pit Society claimed mastery of fire. The Regulars claimed superior judgment.
Nobody could prove anything because Tron had filmed the inside of his hydration pack for 47 minutes.
Winter awaits. So do the suspension debates, mechanical failures, and excuses.
Until next season, remember:
We don’t stop riding because we get old. We get old because we keep trying to clear that damn feature.
Ride hard. Fall spectacularly. Blame the suspension.
And if anyone asks whether you cleaned that line?
“I was absolutely sending it. The trail simply wasn’t ready.”
