Cliff notes: Age is just a number, they say, but numbers are seldom just numbers. We reflected at COT on the importance of raising the “good numbers” (hours spent with your kids, especially before they leave the nest; words you exchange with the M daily, fun texts you get from your workout buddies, posts a week, etc), and lowering the “bad numbers” (extra hours at the office, extra pounds, time alone, volume of kotters…)
Numbers were also part of the actual workout: a circuit based on a 1/5-mile loop, with 25 yards of bear crawls, and a sequence of leg, upper-body and core exercises.
If you completed the target assigned on the whiteboard, you’d end up with 12*12 squats, 12*11 big boys, 12*10 merkins, 12*9*2 step-ups, 12*8 dips, 12*7*2 American hammers, 12*6*2 speed skaters, 12*5*2 J-Los, 12*4 dry docks, 12*3*2 lunges, 12*2 heals to heaven, and 12 derkins.
After the workout, the usual Italian hospitality, curved (imposed?) by the Qs 75-hard constraints: fantastic coffee and much-welcomed cool watermelon. And just like that, the minute we stopped the workout, and the feast began, the rain started.
