FNGs: None
COUNT: 10
What had happened was:
Nice little promo from Foundation yesterday to kick things off. It was slightly cynical of Hatchet though….which is fine, because it was hilarious. But to be clear, I have paid my losses from battle for the ‘haw. Zinfandel dropped that in yesterday. Much appreciated. But yeah, it was stupid, and it’s still funny.

I told Deadwood to bring 5 sandbags, because I anticipated there would be 10 pax there. Spot on. I nailed it. But…..there were 9, because Deadwood nor the sandbags had arrived yet when the clock struck 5:15. But Deadwood’s tardy was excused, due to a phone call/explanation prior to 5:15.

We did a warm up lap. Or two. We stretched. The sandbags then arrived.

We set off. One partner with a sandbag. One without. The one partner did dry docks. We rotated bags. We continued for the full “outer perimeter” of Cutty. I owe Deflated a coffee. Were it not for him, I’d still be down by the stadium trying to carry my sandbag at a respectable pace. But he picked up my slack. The boys beat me back to the start line (shocking :flushed: ). They had put the sand bags up. But no, we weren’t done.

We took sandbags to the transporter shed and dropped them. Then we did a 4,3,2 minute out and back so everyone could push the pace to their speed. Recalc stayed true to zone 2, he’s loyal. Still ahead of me though. ChatterBox was running as if he’d recovered from his 7 day fast. Drive By stayed with the pack, which was good, since his headlamp was leading the way. Rain Man was out front. At least, I think he was, I was too far behind the pack to tell. We finished with some partner work close to COT.

Easy Button gave me a little push as I closed out the 4 miles as Zinfandel was curious what my mileage was. 4.04 to end. So if anyone didn’t get 4 miles, and I did, that’s on them.

For future planning purposes, if Hatchet is ever on Q at Cutty for any type of workout. The answer is no, we will not be going off campus.

Note to self: it’s slightly more difficult to Q a workout when you’re 50 yards behind the front of the pack (50 yards is a generous estimate). I appreciate you guys at the front of the pack picking up my slack. Seriously, I do. Regardless of why, I was pretty slow today. I already am slow anyway, but I was slow today. So I’ll own that one for sure. But I do believe the boys got a decent burn in, regardless. Thanks to Mad Dog for letting me still some of his ideas on Qing a 4 mile bootcamp.

I wanted to Q ignition just as a measuring stick to see what I could do. Question answered. I’ll keep that answer private. But, this was my first Q of a one hour bootcamp with a four mile minimum. I did it. But barely. But it was good to push myself out of my comfort zone. I learned some. Improvements will be made.

Lastly, today’s ignition pax included some of the fastest runners in F3 Waxhaw. It also included the “who’s who” of professional smartasses in our region. If only Bottlecap and Chastain would’ve been there, we’d have given the 1992 dream team a run for their money. However, the boys kept the trash talk light, so thanks. But yall coulda been talking trash and me not know it, because I was too far back to hear. Don’t Q it if you can’t do it. Good words. I’ll keep working on the running and losing the lbs. and try it again in June. Thanks for letting me lead fellas, and thanks for showing up. We got better today. Until next time…… Hatchet out.
