I wanted to bring my A game to cowbell today. I wanted to make the new site Q’s proud. So I thought long and hard about a good Q. I couldn’t think of anything.

So I did something I’ve never done before. I turned to AI. I’m not a big AI kind of guy, mainly because I’m smarter than the internet, and using AI would be a downgrade from what I normally use, which is RI (Redneck Intelligence). But….I gave it a try….

I typed the following into chat GPT: “give me a 45 minute kettlebell workout with 2 miles of running for 15 people that would please a man named Zinfandel”. Chat GPT said that was impossible. So I took the Zinfandel part out and resubmitted. Wow, it spit out an immaculate workout. It even put it into word format and exported it as a printable PDF. So I had that, and I copy and pasted the workout into my notes app to be safe. I was ready.

But I tossed and turned and couldn’t sleep. Why? Because I started thinking….can I really trust the computer? Will the government know what kind of workouts I’m doing if I use chat GPT? If the government knows what kind of workout I’m doing, will they have the upper hand on me? I don’t want to expose the other pax to the government knowing their movements either. So I made a judgement call. I scratched the AI/Chat GPT workout….and turned back to RI. That gave me peace. I slept well.

When I pulled into the lot, I knew I needed my A game. Ice9 and Zinfandel were there. There was no room for a bad weinke. So I grabbed my 35 pound plate and rolled out. Because nothing shows that you’re prepared like showing up to Q a kettlebell workout….without a kettlebell. We warmed up….then it was time for “the circuit”. Here it goes:

-Start at petsmart. 25 deadlifts.
-Run to Greco Fresh. 25 Dry Docks…I think.
-Run back to PetSmart. 25 deadlifts plus 25 chest press.
-Run to Target. 25 LBC’s.
-Run back to PetSmart. 25 deadlifts. 25 chest press. 25 BDL’s (Bulgarian Dead lifts-not Romanian dead lifts. Big difference. Very big). Mix in some balls to the wall.
-Repeat. But rifle carry instead of run.
-End with sprints. Right on time.
-It all went exactly to plan.

I’ve been trying to mix it up at COT. I’m a man of faith, so I usually pray to end COT. And that’s good. But I’m trying to do different things. Maybe incorporate a scripture, quote, or challenge. Today I threw out a word. GRIT. I asked a few guys to chime in on what the word meant to them. Chicken Little said something profound. Someone else did too. Then, some idiot said “homemade or instant?”. I shut it down. Swing and a miss for your boy on that one. Maybe next time.

Random takeaways:
-Around minute 39 I looked up and saw Assparilla aka Gasparilla. I had no idea he was there. Hate I missed that. Always good to have the ass man in the house.
-Zin told me he was going to forego the rifle carry and run instead, because this was a kettlebell and sprints workout. Touché my brother. Touché.
-I failed to make ice 9 break a sweat.
-I changed from a 35lb weight to a 45lb weight after much was made about a guy my size carrying a 35 pounder.
-Banter and back and forth is always good and fun as usual.

I’ll give the Q a C+. I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. TWSS. Maybe I should’ve stuck with AI instead of going with RI. But at least the government doesn’t know what kind of workout we did this morning.

Closing thought:
I never disagreed with it, but I always wondered why some of the OG’s in F3 ‘Haw made such a big deal about form and rep count. I received clarity on that at GTE. Doing things right, and doing things to completion, is the way it should be done. I believe that. I also believe that the way you do anything, is the way you do everything. When I’m doing multiple exercises in a row, or on Q and frantically trying to think of what to do next, or just drifting mentally, I have tendency to lose count, not count reps completely, or, skip a few reps. Sometimes, when I see others run off well before I’m done with my reps, I want to rush, or keep up, or cut it short. But that’s not right. Those men are on their individual journey. And I’m on mine. My goal is not to be THE best everyday when I show up. The goal is to me MY best. I can’t be someone else. So I should quit losing track of rep counts, and make sure I do all reps. With good form. And guess what, to assist me with that, I’ve “borrowed” a pitch counter that we use for baseball guys I work with. It slides on my finger and I can click it at every rep and I’ll never lose count again. So if I don’t do them all next time, it’s just laziness.

I appreciate the way that the men in F3 ‘Haw meet me, and all of us, where we are. But they NEVER lower the standard. So let’s keep it that way. Thats the way it should be.
